
Public Relations and the Sopranos Ending

After the screen went blank last night for a few seconds, David and I looked at each other. Is that it? I felt like becoming Tony Soprano and knocking off creator David Chase. In the understatement of the year, the ending was very unsatisfying.
Since I wanted to vent my feelings about the Sopranos ending, I knew I’d have to tie in to a P.R. angle. And it is simple. As upsetting as the ending was, it has gotten people talking. Probably more so than if Tony had gotten whacked (then everyone could say - yeah, I figured that. End of discussion).
So this ending probably generated more buzz than any expected ending could. And that’s P.R., as annoying as it may be.
