Good News For Online Clothing Companies

Posted May 14, 2007 by Margie Zable Fisher

The New York Times reported today that for the first time since online retailing was born a decade ago, the sales of clothing have overtaken those of computer hardware and software.

In 2006, revenue from clothing reached $18.3 billion, surpassing that from PCs, printers and word-processing programs, which totaled $17.2 billion, according to a report to be released today by a major trade group.

The best part of this news? Since online clothing companies have officially “made it,” according to this report, they are poised for even more public relations opportunities in the future. Why? Because the more credible an industry is, the more likely it will receive its share of good press.
