There is Such a Thing as Bad P.R.
Posted April 16, 2007 by Margie Zable FisherI cringed when I read the cover story of our current South Florida Business Journal.
The story was about a well-known, successful mortgage expert. Known for his radio, TV shows and book, the story was a negative piece about his legal troubles.
The troubles include lawsuits, foreclosures, tax liens and an FBI investigation.
The worst part, in my opinion, were some of his quotes. When asked about a foreclosure that led to huge losses by investors, he replied, “That’s life. Stuff happens.”
The reporter also mentioned the fact that this person was a former multimillion-dollar real estate investor in New York with a private jet. When the market soured in the mid-1990s, he went through Chapter 7 bankruptcy.
This man obviously made it big a second time, and is now facing all of these troubles. I’m not sure if he’ll be able to make it big again.
