Even Oprah is Not Immune
Posted March 19, 2007 by Margie Zable FisherEven when you give millions of dollars to a great cause, you are still not immune to criticism.
Recently Oprah contributed to a $40 million school in South Africa. The school is free of charge to a select group of girls. The parents are now complaining to local media that the school has rules that limit the girls to one family visit a month and restrict their cell phone calls and consumption of junk food.
Whether you agree or disagree with the parents is your choice. But one thing to realize here is that even if you give away tons of money, people will still criticize you.
So do whatever you think is right, no matter what your critics say.
Too bad that the parent is only thinking of themselves. I guess you win some and lose some.As a retired elementary teacher, I remember that my teachings only reached a few of the 30+ students per year, over the span of 25 years. In general the disadvantaged students and familys were grateful for any help I gave to help their Johnny to read. I now teach elders an art, in which bring great joy to them in addition to enable them to sell their art work.
