Creating Your Celebrity Brand
Posted February 26, 2007 by Margie Zable FisherDavid and I really enjoyed spending last Friday through Sunday at the Ritz in downtown Atlanta.
I spoke last Saturday morning to a group of almost 200 interior designers across the United States on using Public Relations to “create your celebrity brand,” as part of the “Creating Your Celebrity Brand” conference from Designing Profits, Inc. (www.designingprofits.com)
This is the second time that I have spoken at a Designing Profits conference, and I have to say that everyone is so incredibly nice, and very inspiring.
Some of the stories I heard really stood out. One such story was from Karen Marx, of Marx Interiors (www.marxinteriors.com), in Boulder, CO. Not only has Karen run her business since 1981, but she founded the Mali Assistance Project in 1999, to help the villagers in Mali, West Africa, survive famine, drought and disease, and to build infrastructure for their future health and economic stability.
This is a great program, and to learn more, visit www.maliassist.org.
I also met Kimberly Grigg, of Knotting Hill Interiors by Kimberly Grigg (www.knottinghillinteriors.com), in Myrtle Beach, SC. Kimberly shared the revelations that she came to from the conference information, and she was on the way to drive back home to SC to see her six children. Kimberly is also working on a volunteer project to make a children’s shelter elegant. As Kimberly is one of the most elegant people I’ve ever met, I’m sure she’ll do a great job!
Some Shout-Outs to:
• Tim Schelfe, of Schelfe and Associates, Inc. Interior Design (www.schelfeassociates.com), of Raleigh, NC, for helping me with my Diet Coke needs
• Anita and David Holland of Anita Holland Interiors (www.anitahollandinteriors.com), of Charlotte, NC, for the kind words about how a press release I had written had helped them gain some great publicity
• And Tom Williams and Robert Hale of Hale-Williams (www.hale-williams.com) in Carmel, CA, for their charm
Thanks to anyone else I spoke to and those I missed. You’re a great group, and it was a pleasure being in your company!
