Be Careful What You Wish For
Posted February 20, 2007 by Margie Zable FisherA friend of mine told me that several years ago he had asked a P.R. person how many front-page (of the newspaper - and not the business or local sections) placements he had gotten. The P.R. guy said none. My friend said that he was looking for a P.R. person who got front-page placements.
My friend mentioned that this P.R. guy had finally gotten a front-page placement. It was a negative story about the P.R. guy!
That placement was a strange twist of fate. But it did prompt me to tell my friend that he needed to revise his expectations. I told him that maybe he shouldn’t be looking for front-page placements, since most front-page stories are negative.
He agreed.
